Wednesday, February 2, 1938 With Bornstein, Bergston & Paul left Davenport at 7 this morning for Ottumwa. We struck some ice on the way to Muscatine but the road was fair. However 10 miles below Muscatine there was a detour and this detour road was a sheet of glare ice. We kept on to Ainsworth about 65 miles but the roads were too dangerous. Boys were using ice skates on the roads. So we called up Ottumwa and found it was not safe to continue. So we came home via Iowa City, much of the way at 10 miles per hour.
