Público DepositedWEDNESDAY NOV. 17 1948 Went to Chicago on the early Rocket and attended a meeting of the Power & Machinery section of the Farm Equipment Institute. I had called a meeting of the Safety Committee for the noon lunch. Present were Cap Ross. Ed Tanquary. Charley Scranton, Martin Rouning and as a guest Ron Grussing. One of the matters taken up was that of proper lighting of tractors and tractor drawn equipment on the highways at night. It seems farmers some times use their plowing light to the rear which makes drivers going in the same direction think a car is approaching on the wrong side of the road. This was referred to the Advisory Engineering Committee to try to get a standard worked out for tractors on roads at night. Also the Advisory committee was asked to take another try at making corn pickers safer. I asked to be relieved of the chairmanship of the committee. Home at 745 Henry & Katherine Priester called in evening.
