WEDNESDAY JULY 14 1948 This morning Mabel & Chandler Bullock went with Elise and we on an all day trip of 116 miles. We first stopped at the Westminster Cracker plant then drove to Rindge to the Cathedralof the Pines in the woods Here on a hill top in a pine woods we found a memorial erected by Douglas Sanderson and Sybil Sloan to their son killed in the war in 1944 There an altar built of stones gathered from all parts of the world. Memorial Services are given every Sunday in the summer. Mr Sloan himself was there and explained it all. It touched my heart strings. Music came forth from records. We must go there again. Then we drove to Hancock where we had lunch at the John Hancock Inn. Most attractive [Drawing: John Hancock Inn] [Drawing: map, route/Princeton MA to Hancock NH] It is always pleasant to be with Mabel and Chandler.
