TUESDAY OCT. 25 1949 The Quarterly Meeting of the Board of Deere & CO. I had to miss the Board meetings today of the Iowa-Ullinois Gas & Electric Co and also that of the National Safety Council. The meeting today lasted until 5 P.M. The volume of sales for the 11 months thru September $333,000,000 and profits 36 millions. This is the best report we've ever had. The steel and coal strikes unless settles soon will stop all industry. I showed movie of my tractor at the meeting - well received. Charley Wiman is really interested and says so. Nineteen at the Wimans for dinner. Silloways, Stones, Kennedys, Wilson's, Rowlands Curt Oheim, Harry Boyle, Bob Carlson, Carl Mastim & Willard Hosford. It was a fine party.
