Public DepositedTUESDAY FEB. 10 1948 A two hours directors meeting this afternoon. Since 1944 Deere & Co had spent and figured on spending 70 millions for capitol expansion of buildings and equipemnt. Now with commodity prices falling it seems wise to pull in our belts and cut out all capitol expenditures thatare not absolutely essential. It is thought that 7 million that was appropriatedcan be cancelled or deferred until a later date so that 63 million will be the amt- Some of the projects as Waterloo Dubuque & Ankeny calling for $12,000,000 are so far along in commitments that it is not wise to stop them as the amount that could be saved would be small. The big question is, Will buying stop or will we have a good business in '48 is the question. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Elise & I at the Altgelts for dinner to meet their son Pat.
