FRIDAY MAY 13 1949 Elise and I took Walter & Fifi to the Town Club Smorgesbord. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ continued from May 11- I called Mrs Servais long distance several days ago thinking I would go down and see them, to learn that Mr Servais had died two weeks ago in Paris. Really tragic for them, she was completely broken up by it. I'm so sorry for her. I enclose two rather frivolous photos Kaiky took of me several weeks ago at Royanmont where we had a picnic lunch with some friends of his. I'm sending some small teddy bears off to the Cades, the reason I bought them was to help an old model friend of Mary's who is down and out, and makes them. a white Russian she is. I think it is splendid that you plan to go to California with the other directors it should be a lot of fun and doing it in such a delux fashion on Deere & Co is certainly an ocassion not to be missed. Reggie Neal is having his first one man show in New York at the [Noslyet?] Gallery, I'm sorry I'm not there to see it not to mention the great Basque show at the Museum of Modern Art. How are the Cades? What are their plans for the summer? I'd write to Elise but I trust you relay what news there is of me to her, and although she is undoubtedly busier than I, I never seem to find enough time to do all the necessary things here. In spite of having Asherman's car, I have not used it much as I've been much more interested in getting into my work. But I"m going down to Vezelay Mas Dizon, for a long weekend with the Zowoses and Mary Callery (he's the editor of the Cartier d'Art) as they have a place down there. And then I'll take a short trip at the end of the month to Belgium to see May. Thats the news. Will write again soon. Much love as ever Bill
