WEDNESDAY AUGUST 17 1949 Early this morning Evarts and I drove 35 miles to Bates Brothers Clover Hill Farm Dudley. Here the Worcester County Agricultural Day was held with about 11,000 in attendence. John Deere had a good exhibit. Joe Lawton, Lewis Amith, Bob Tarbell Curtiss Cook, Dick Calahan and several more Deere men present. A cool pleasant day. Got back to Princeton at 130 & took Elise Amy and Kate to Whalom to see 'Scarcely Married". a most amusing comedy well acted. I invited Lewin Smith,Curtiss Cook Bob Tarbell & Dick Calahan for supper at Harrington Farm. Nine of us there. Scallops All were much impressed with the place & food. A telegram from Lee said her connections on plane were all upset and that she and the kids were arriving at Bradley Field Conn. at 1020. Dick Calahan volunteered to drive down with me. It was 80 miles to the airport at Windsor Locks. We went via 20 to 15 and then 20 Conn. to air port. Elise, Pooh and Brother arrived about one half hour late. It was good to see them. Back to Princeton at 115 A.M.
