It was exciting to hear "this is the overseas operator at San Francisco" and then "This is Honolulu". Then came Lee's voice. It was exciting to hear the dear girls voice come thru to us. She told us she had a new job in a private nursery school which she is very glad to get. She said the picture on her Christmas Card was of a ginger flower. She sounded very cheerful and at once asked "When are you coming out here". Talked to Bill too for a moment. The call was at noon. Elise and I with 35 saw the New Year in at an apartment in the Mississippi Hotel. A rainy foggy day. Had it been colder there would be a lot of snow.
