He wants me to be chairman of Farm Conference for next year I weakened and said I would for one year only and not to make any speeches. Home on 5 o'clock Rocket Letter from Bill came today [Postage stamps: from Paris] I've tried to get a boat reservation home in time for Christmas but so far only succeeded in getting something for the 4th of January, so I would be in Moline about the 19th or 20th Callery's show opened amid a good turn out of friends, artists, diplomats, and should be a success It is a bery handsome show. I hope you will see it later in New York. I'm going to hear W. Bacchus the German pianist tonight. Got a letter from Maxine Shaw saying she had just gotten Robert off on his tor saying "Robert looked fine. I doubt if there is a hank of hair left on me" [Postage stamp: English? King George vi]
