This work investigates methods for measuring the surface texture of abrasive media and determining the uncertainty of these measurements. Abrasive media can be challenging to measure and there is little if any work done on determining the uncertainty of these texture measurements. In this work replicas of the abrasive media are measured with a variety of sensor averaging settings. Averaging is shown to reduce the noise in these measurements but has little influence on the repeatability of measurements or measurement uncertainty.
