SATURDAY 53 Febryary 22 Clear Glad to be here with the Browns & the field organization on GP tractor development - [Signature: Charles Deere Wiman] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Charlie Wiman & Harold White here for the day. Showed Bean cultivator, Aroostook cultivator and also deflection measurer on wide tread. We broke chain housing but proved that cultivator does not increase deflection on power lift either. Received this wire from Ben Kough. Silver here 7/8" with[?]on eachand taking 2 cap screws each and applied underside case and ahead of centers chain housings just missing power lift [?] it provides 22" clearance which is better than braces made here before tests at Waterloo yesterday indicates 300% increased strength old style castings this brace could be used by D&M as well as ourselves McCormick likes it but wants tractor strong enough without any braces, Waterloo expressedyou yesterday new heavy quills and housings under Silvers brace mailed you all details connection tests yesterday. McCormick arrives San Antonio suggest you have McCray & McCormick come to Brownsville for work Tuesday. We have test rig there & McCormick would like to work with you we feel very strongly Waterloo should immediately change each & every tractor not now equipped with heavy quills & chan housings & cut out all this fooling around with a brace of some kind McCormick agrees with this but from McCrays attitude you help put this over immediately decision on their part necessary. Ted Johnson left tonight for Moline. Charlie Wiman asked me to make and experimental shop on a truck. Dinner at Whites & Charlie Wiman went too. Dance at [Cherry ?] Post later.
