Hot & awfully humid THURSDAY JULY 25 1948 Charley Stone went over our Experimental program and saw what we are doing. Altgett is to rebuild his beet topper giving more capacity for the beet tops. He is to have it ready in about two months for trial in Colorado in October. We are working on a mower for the 101 tractor. Bud Paul is working on it. The breaking back of the bar and drive is the heart of the problem. We want to try out this idea without spending too much time in refining the design. Then there is the vegetable cultivator & planter which we have a good start on. The corn cultivator needs some refining as does the plow. Showed report of Hardesty on Cub Stone said he was glad we did not have that tractor. We located an Allis Chalmers G tractor at Louis Dierolf 2752 9th St Rock Island. Keith & I went out to see it. I found it hard to get on with vegetable planter in place. Tractor serial #G 507 6 x 30 rear tires 4 x 12 front 8"x3" rubber faced gauge wheels on vegetable cultivator wt Town Club with Eda & Watler. At 1015 Bill and Lee phoned that at 7 a tornado struck their house and smashed in the south windows and carried away the play house. The children were at a movie and went to a friends house for the night. Bill thinks they can put on storm windows and so come down here tomorrow afternoon.
