Wednesday, February 12, 1941 Clear/Rain [Headlines: Tribune; War news] With Charley Wiman in his Chrysler drove to Ottumwa reaching there at one. With Herman Moschel and Charley Wiman went ober my proliminary report on Stationary Ensilage Cutter It is a question whether Dain or Spreader Works should build this implement. The Dain men demonstrated how their field harvester would work as in stationary cutter and made a good demonstration. It was decided that I take a copy of my report to Gamble on Friday & also to Paradise. The to ask them to go over the report with their men and be prepared to attend a meeting on Monday which Charley Wiman will call to settle the matter. In my report I'm to say the blown matter will be up for decision. Charley & I drove to Waterloo reaching W. at 630 We went thru the Tractor plant from 830 to 1030 321 tractors build today. The most tractors ever produced by Deere & Co in one day. Also 536 tons of iron poured in foundry. 900 men on second shift & 300 on last shift. Charley had some very nice things to say of my work. He thought I was doing a beautiful job and that others on the 4th floor thought the same. He said that I had created a job of coordinating experimental depts & men that few if any could do, and appreciated my ablility to look ahead He was more enthusiastic about my work than I had ever heard him before. He thought I got more out of experimental men than anyone else. [Headlines: Waterloo Daily Courier;world news]
