Fast Fourier transform technique for the quantum ice cream problem

The Fast Fourier Transform technique (FFT) is applied for the first time to solve the three-dimensional quantum dot problem. The development of the technique is to solve the one-band, variable-mass, finite barrier Schrodinger equation. Then the theory is applied to the quantum ice cream problem. A secondary objective was to compare the FFT computation with the Finite Difference Method. The FFT is found to be less efficient than the Finite Difference Method.
