This project studies problem of quantum state retrodiction, which is concerned with determining the state of a quantum system at some time in the past on the basis of measurements made on it later. The problem is studied for quantum systems of two and four degrees of freedom, and an application of the latter solution is made to a modified version of the game Mastermind.
