Carnation mottle virus -- a biological, biochemical, and bioinformatic analysis

Carnation mottle virus is highly related to Turnip crinkle virus, which has been shown to suppress hypersensitive response in Col-0 Arabidopsis thaliana. CarMV can potentially help determine which specific component of TCV is contributing to the suppression of the HR. Genetic alignments of CarMV and TCV were done to determine the plausibility of replacing TCV's movement protein p8 with CarMV movement protein p7. An infectious DNA clone was made using reverse-transcription-PCR of purified CarMV viral RNA.
