Diabetes research -- ART2 subclone design and protein expression

Público

ART2 is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-linked protein found on the surface of certain T lymphocytes, NK cells and IELs. ART2+ cell transfusion prevents insulitis in BBDP (diabetes prone) rats, while ART2+ cell depletion causes insulitis in BBDR (diabetes resistant) rats. Both strains serve as models for Type 1 Diabetes. During this project, a recombinant ART2.2 fusion construct designed for solubility and affinity purification was subcloned into an expression vector. Bacterial transformation resulted in expression of ART2.2 b protein intended to facilitate further investigation.
