Economic model for evaluation of tunneling infrastructure of the Mexico City subway system (Metro)

This project was conducted an economical analysis and a design review of the existing tunnel support for line seven of the subway system in Mexico City. The design review was conducted using the Terzaghi's Arching principle and the New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM). Safety factors obtained under both approaches were compared. The economic model used for this project allowed for explicit consideration of time dependent factors related to the specific ground conditions encountered along the tunnel. The project sponsor, within the Metro was the "Program for Regulation of Building and Rail Infrastructure Assets."
