Facilitation of fish passage on the Quinapoxet River

Public

Fish passage technologies allow fish to bypass dams that may otherwise constrain their habitat. This project focused on the evaluation of fish passage options for the Oakdale Dam on the Quinapoxet River, part of Boston's water supply. After assessing the hydrology, hydraulics, and unique features of the dam site, a Denil fishway was selected primarily due to cost, regional prevalence, and effective passage of target species. The final design included hydraulic and structural elements, construction guidelines, and a cost estimate.
