The Atlantic Breeze Resort -- study of structural systems

Public

This project investigated the use of various structural systems in resisting gravity and lateral loadings on a five-and ten-story hotel. Analysis was performed under provisions of IBC and ASCE 7-02. Member design utilized LRFD and allowable stress methods. Cost estimates were prepared for the various systems to help facilitate the selection of the best scheme. Based on cost data and constructability concerns, insights were made regarding the value of various structural systems as a function of building height.
