Electronic Waste Legislation in Massachusetts
Public DepositedDownloadable Content
open in viewerTwenty-six states have laws that require the recycling of electronic products, or E-Waste. The consumer usually absorbs the cost of recycling E-Waste, although Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) makes producers financially liable for recycling. In Massachusetts, E-Waste is the fastest growing category of waste. Currently, there are three E-Waste recycling bills before the Senate Ways and Means Committee. Working in conjunction with Senator Eldridge’s office, we promoted the passage of an E-Waste bill by educating the public about recycling and advocating for support of a comprehensive EPR bill.
