Amplified Spontaneous Emission in Nd-Doped Fiber Amplifiers

This project expands upon a numerical model for amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) written by a previous MQP group in 2009. The new model incorporates a more accurate representation of the intensity profile of light propagating in the fiber. ASE effects around 1060 nm and 900 nm are investigated and compared to experimental measurements.
