This project, sponsored by General Dynamics Communication Systems, is an analysis of the security features and performance of SNMP version 3. An SNMP version 3 client and server were implemented and compared to their SNMP version 2 counterparts. Various cryptographic algorithms were implemented and the SNMP version 3 implementation was tested as to performance and security. Finally, test results were analyzed and recommendations were made pertaining to General Dynamics' products, in particular the Fastlane inline network encryptor.
