Historical data is frequently found in numbers, numbers that take a great deal of work to produce an accurate picture of what has been recorded. Old Sturbridge Village Research Library has the return valuations for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts stored numerically. This project developed a format in which historical data, such as these valuations may be displayed using MapInfo, a geographic mapping program. A historical analysis of this data was not intended, simply to make such analysis easier, and to provide a starting point for applying the data at Old Sturbridge Village.
