Alternatives for remediating a phosphorus plume

Public

This project analyzes remediation alternatives for reducing the phosphorus load that is being introduced into Ashumet Pond in Cape Cod, MA. This is done through an analysis of different remediation options using the groundwater modeling software Visual MODFLOW. It is found that the most practical method of reducing phosphorus loading was through the use of injection wells to direct the flow of phosphorus away from Ashumet Pond. The results of this project will be submitted to USGS and MMR.
