Gray water is used water that comes from everyday uses such as washing, showering and laundering; it does not contain fecal matter. Gray water reuse is a growing concern as water resources become scarce. This project used two planter box designs for the recycling of gray water using both tropical wetland plants and local plants, in other words, plants that are more resistant to lower temperatures. It was found that the effluent coming out of all the systems was cleaner than the influent and that there was no significant difference between the quality of water being purified by the warm weather plants and the colder weather plants.
