Optimization of the magnetic field in a micro-ion thruster

The focus of this project was to design and fabricate magnetic field configurations to be used on the micro-ion thruster currently in development at the Jet Propulsion Lab. Using available material, six configurations were designed and magnetic vector plots were produced for each. A suggested working design was developed and two configurations were tested on the thruster in the vacuum chamber. The results will assist in developing the optimal thruster design.
