Blackstone Canal redevelopment

Public

The goal of this project was to develop a conceptual design for the re-creation of a mile-long section of the historical Blackstone Valley Canal in Worcester, Massachusetts. The team evaluated potential water sources for the canal based on proximity, supply and quality. The team then researched the feasibility of incorporating water quality improvements into the design. Lastly, the structural components of the canal were designed considering cost, maintenance, and aesthetics. The final design can be used to develop an historically significant canal in downtown Worcester.
