Drug release kinetics of tetracycline from poly(vinyl-alcohol)

Public

A solution containing 0.03 or 0.08 g/ml tetracycline HCI and 0.10 g/ml poly(vinyl-alcohol) was electrospun onto a surgical stent, aluminum alloy cylinders, and freeze dried in a mold. The drug elution of tetracycline from the samples was measured in a 37C PBS bath through spectrophotometry. The diffusivity value for the stent was found to be 3.3 x 10 (m/s), whereas the values for the cylinders and freeze dried samples were 4.73 x 10 and 3.3 x 10 m/s), respectively.
