General Electric Cincinnati service shops consolidation feasibility study

Public

This project explored the feasibility of lowering overhead costs for General Electric's Cincinnati Service Shops by eliminating the dock facility, Container Place 2. A modified Systematic Layout Planning technique was used to investigate the aircraft engine repair shops and their existing operations. Two consolidation plans for Container Place 2 were developed, including new facility layouts, cost-benefit analyses contrasting the plans against maintaining the present facilities, and action plans for necessary business process adaptations.
