TCV-induced changes in plant gene expression

The hypersensitive response is a defense mechanism for plants responding to the presence of a pathogen. However, there is evidence that systemic infection by Turnip crinkle virus leads to suppression of the HR. To elucidate the cause of this suppression, microarray data were obtained that showed nine A. thaliana genes had altered expression when this suppression occurred. To confirm this data, RT-PCR was performed on a subset of the genes that were shown to have altered expression by the microarray.
