The Globalization of the Pharmaceutical Industry

open in viewerThroughout recent history, the pharmaceutical industry has seen rapid modernization and globalization. The threat of disease, access to medicine for the poor, and rising health care costs have created a debate between generic drugs and their name brand counterparts. Looking at the historical evolution of the pharmaceutical industry allows for a better understanding of modern pharmaceutical issues. Generic and name brand drugs each have advantages and finding a compromise between patent protections and cheap generic drug production is the solution to modern global health issues.
