In prostate cancer, the development of normal to metastatic cells causes changes in integrin expression and the up-regulation of signaling pathways. Integrin b6 is known to be elevated in many types of epithelial cancers. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the expression of integrin B6 in benign vs. cancerous prostate tissue. Two different antibodies detected the presence of an antigenic epitope in the basal layer of epithelial cells, but tumor cells were negative. Staining is classified as artifact and the antibodies are not recognizing integrin B6.
