Finite element simulations in plasticity -- with applications in metal processing

Public

This project examines and identifies the cause of rod twist present in rolling mills. A von Mises elastic-plastic model is used. Three-dimensional finite element simulations are accomplished using Adina, a commercial FEM analysis software. Two model problems, a contact problem with Coulomb-type friction and a twist problem, are analyzed. For these problems, the step-by-step procedure and batch files are given. Conclusions about the usability and suitablility of Adina for future work in metal processing simulation are drawn.
