Horseshoe crab growth factors -- immunohistology

Public

This project confirmed the production of the trophic hormones juvenile hormone and ependymin in horseshoe crabs. Blood samples, regenerating appendages, and the CNS were treated with antibodies against JH and EPN. Secondary antibodies conjugated to an enzyme reporter or to a fluorochrome indicated the presence of both hormones in juveniles and in adults healing after injury.
