This is a lesson plan for 6-8th grade students that can be used by their teacher. This has an in-class activity with which the teacher can start the lesson, slides for the teacher to present, and is accompanied by a script that has additional information for the teacher to follow. This resource was created to be open source to help increase knowledge about how animals care for their young. This allows more individuals to have access to the resource and use it for educational benefit. This resource is designed with diversity, equity, and inclusion in mind. Sources of information had diverse backgrounds and perspectives to create more inclusion in the animal behavior field. Two DEI spotlights at the end of the lesson show some of the areas that this information is collected from that do not typically receive adequate credit, and some of the perspectives chosen to incorporate into the content. This lesson plan incorporates a variety of learning styles to make this lesson more inclusive and accessible.
