Redesign of the AZ 100 HP 260 series z-axis robotic arm

Public

The objective of this project was to develop a new design for the AZ 100HP series 260 vertical robotic arm that would not only satisfy the existing design parameters but also allow for improved acceleration to and from the molding cavity. This improvement in the acceleration was primarily achieved through material removal, material substitution and geometric revision in the components that comprise the vertical arm. Improving the mold-cycle time by reducing the mold-open time with a faster acceleration into and away from the die-set directly translates into increased part production, which in the plastic injection molding industry is essential.
