Manufacturing lubricants

Public

Through a collaborative effort with H.C. Starck of Newton, MA, the project team conducted experimental research involving various lubricants, dies, and wire materials that are used in the wire drawing process. The project explores the effect of various combinations of two different lubricants and die materials on drawing load, drawing stress, friction factor, and surface quality of the wires. The overall goal of the project is to arrive at the optimum combination of lubricant and die material for producing wires of acceptable quality from different stock.
