Manuscript transcription assistant

Public

We designed and implemented a system that assists history scholars in electronically transcribing manuscripts, and also allows them to share completed transcriptions through a centralized server-based catalog system. thus helping preserve ancient manuscripts and accelerating the process of historical research. The system uses TEI-based encoding system called the Manuscript Markup Language and adds a visual transcription interface to make the encoding process transparent to the user, thus eliminating the main obstacle for non-technical users.
