Optical-shutter design: Subsystem for a reflectance-spectroscopy-based physiological shock-monitor

Public

This project developed a custom electromechanical shutter designed for a prototype medical monitor. The monitoring method uses a light source and a spectrometer to capture and measure reflected optical signals. Through data processing, selected parameters of patient tissue can be measured and interpreted to indicate the presence and severity of the physiological condition know as "shock." The shutter improves the system performance by enabling various data collection modes for use in signal processing algorithms.
