Equalization filters for bio-amplifiers

A technique for decreasing the hardware complexity and price of multiple-channel electromyographic bioamplifiers is described. In the past, expensive, high-quality components and complex designs have been required to produce high-quality equipment. This project describes an alternative approach: rather than using high quality components and complex design, (1) use cheaper components and less complicated design, and then (2) equalize the recorded signal in software with a finite impulse response filter (FIR). In particular, FIR equalization filters increased the common mode rejection ratio (CMMR) above 80db over the frequency range 20 to 1,000 Hz.
