Identification of potentially upregulated genes of K562 cells infected with dengue virus type 2

The purpose of this Major Qualifying Project was to prescreen cellular genes for potential upregulation after infection with Dengue Virus Serotype 2 (D2V) Sri Lanka. Differential display was used to compare mRNA expression in D2V-infected and mock-infected K562 cells. Cloning and sequencing the cDNA from this mRNA enabled the identification of genes that appear to be unregulated in response to D2V infection. These genes include bleomycin hydrolase, a possible dystrophin homologue, activin, and topoisomerase II.
