Optimization of AC calorimetric cells

Public

Typical AC calorimetric cells consists [sic] of a resistive heater (through which heat is applied sinusoidally to a cell), a thermistor to sense the temperature response, and a container to house the sample. The geometrical arrangements of these components affect the frequency of the thermal response. This report presents a study of three cell configurations: a cup & lid sealing the sample, a platform with the exposed sample on top, and a metal capillary. Each design was evaluated for frequency response, ability to handle volatile samples, a[nd] preparation time.
