The Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS) has many Assistive Technology Centers (ATCs) that provide assistive technology, such as wheelchairs, shower chairs, and lifts, to over 47,000 people with disabilities both in and out of group homes across the state. The ATCs do not have a unified inventory system to keep track of equipment. This leads to equipment being lost and unavailable to be used by those who need it. The project's goal was to design and implement an inventory system that could be used by the DDS's central west division, with the plan to trial the system then utilize it across the entire state. With this inventory system, the DDS will save a significant amount of time, money, and effort in their efforts to locate and utilize equipment.
