Wireless Internet access within Danish railway trains

Public

This project explored the feasibility of using available wireless technology to provide high-speed, continuous Internet access on Danish trains. The IEEE 802.11b standard was investigated as a solution and an experimental system was developed using off the shelf components. Tests were conducted to examine the extent of the technology's capabilities in coverage, handoff, data rate and roaming speed. Results indicated the performance and practicality of such a solution and recommendations were made towards a final implementation.
