Development of ring spray quenching system

Public

An experimental spray quenching system was developed, manufactured and tested. The system is designed to support the testing of an assortment of spray quenching rings and supply flow rates from 10 to 35 gallons per minute. The system has been incorporated with two separate types of quench probes to collect quenching heat release rate data for the calculation of heat transfer coefficients. Preliminary tests show that the system operates efficiently and generates superb heat release rate data.
