MPPT charge controller: a solar application

Public

The purpose of this project was to design and build a Maximum-Peak-Power-Tracking (MPPT) System for a solar powered batter charger. A solar panel's voltage and current were continuously monitored by a microcontroller based system to determine the instantaneous power. Pulse-Width-Modulation (PWM) was then used to adjust the duty cycle of a Cuk style DC-DC converter to draw energy from the panel at its peak power point and to charge a battery. System operation was tested and verified.
