Power quality monitor

Nonlinear loads cause problems which can affect the performance of electrical systems, distorting supply voltage, causing additional power loss, EM interference, and resonances. This project's goal was to design, build, and test an instrument capable of measuring harmonic power (a Power Quality Monitor or PQM). It was proven that the PQM would be beneficial to power utility companies by classifying their customers as harmonic polluters of harmonic attenuators (sinks).

  • This report represents the work of one or more WPI undergraduate students submitted to the faculty as evidence of completion of a degree requirement. WPI routinely publishes these reports on its website without editorial or peer review.
