The Role of BPA in Cellular Stress and Incidence of Reproductive Cancers
Public DepositedBisphenol A (BPA), a component of plastics, triggers formation of stress granules (SGs). The pathway of BPA-induced SG formation is unknown. It was hypothesized that BPA activates the G protein coupled estrogen receptor GPER1. Use of an agonist (G1) and antagonist (CIMBA) suggest that GPER1 plays a role in BPA-induced SGs. An epidemiologic study examined the relationship between female reproductive cancers (FRCs) and socioeconomic status as a marker of BPA exposure. A linear relationship was observed in NY state.
