Asymmetric digital subscriber line applications

This MQP matched the impedance of Analog Devices AD8016 line driver to a transmission line by utilizing positive as well as negative feedback. This differs from the traditional approach of using a termination resistance that is equal to the resistance of the transmission line. By using this new design, the calculated efficiency of the line driver was increased by 30 percent over the traditional configuration. This was due to the decrease in the termination resistance from 100 to 15 ohms.
